Friday Favorites: Potty Training Conversations with my three year old!

I have really tried to buckle down and do this whole potty training thing. My son just turned three and has shown no interest at all. So I decided to bust out “Potty Prizes” and stickers and the results have been great… except this morning when again he forgot to point it down… that resulted in a really wet floor… So this week I decided to share my potty stories of the week…

when my son noticed that I don’t pee standing up and he does:

Morgan: “Mom… I peed standing up.”
Me: “Yeah you did good job buddy!”
Morgan: “Mom you cant pee standing up.”
Me: “Nope.”
Morgan: (Laughes) “That is silly!”
Me: “Yeah… I know right!”

Tuesday night Morgan learned why he points his wiener down when he pees. I kept telling him to point it down, he would purposely point it up to just be a brat.

I go into the kitchen to make dinner and I hear screaming and soon my toddler is standing next to me in the kitchen, pants off, wet shirt and a liquid dripping from his face.

Me: “Morgan what is that?”

This kid, is why you point your wiener down when you pee.

A cute moment was when he went and you could see the pride on his face:

“mommy I did it I really did it!”

This time I’m going to the bathroom and he comes up in front of me starts clapping his hands and in what I can only describe as a mocking tone says, “Mommy you did it, good job you go potty like a big girl!” hahaha thanks kid!

Friday Favorites: My Four Favorite Websites to waste time on :)

My first favorite go to site it Post Secret. This is a website where people create homemade postcards and send in their secrets. Its updated every sunday.

Why do I love this site? It makes my weirdness seem a lot less fucked up. Everyone has their dirty little secrets but when you read others… you see that people either have the same secrets you do… or they have ones that are much much worse.

modclothWhen I want to go shopping or “window shopping” for fun and funky stuff, ModCloth is the site They have everything from clothes to stuff for the kitchen. Check it out!

Pintrest ahhhhh its a website sent from the Gods for crafty people. When I cant be getting my craft on you can usually find me exploring pintrest like an ant on a sugar cube!

Dear Abby because she always has the best advice. I have read Dear Abby almost daily since I was 14 years old. I’m pretty much obsessed with the site 🙂

Friday Favorites #4 : DIY 4th Of July Crafts

Have a Great Time!

I will use any excuse I can to go to the craft store and get supplies and the 4th Of July is no exception!  With some brief searching online I ran across some super fantastical Independence day crafts that are easy and fairly in expensive to do.

So to get in the holiday spirit may I suggest dressing for it? Deck yourself out from head to toe in stars and the good ol’ Red, White and Blue! These adorable flip flops are great and super easy to do. A couple ways you could do it is to find some fabric or perhaps even ribbon. Cut long strips of it fold in half and tuck the tails in the hole around the flip flop straps. Keep doing this until you achieve the maximum amount of fluff that you like.  This is a super easy craft and you should be able to achieve this under $5.00 a pair.

To go with your Amazing Flip Flops you need the perfect shirt to go with it! May I suggest this adorable shirt? Use a thick paint brush and use fabric paint to paint on some great stripes, and then add the loving bling of your kiddos hand print in blue. Although I would most likely do the hand print and follow up with the stripes, however its adorable! Perhaps make one for your little girl and team it up with a red, white and blue tutu?

Once you are dressed for the occasion you need to dress your house up! That is why I suggest this super cute, super simple clothespin wreath. If you go shopping at the right spots you should be able to come in around $10.00 or less. Check your local dollar store for the clothespins, and you can get your paint for .69 each at Walmart, The actual wreath I’m sure you can get at Walmart too, but I have seen them at Joann Fabrics and the price ranges on them depending on the size, but they almost always have a 40% coupon so be sure to hunt that down!

After you “oooh and ahhh” them with the door wreath, lead them to your beautiful, yet festive and simple bandanna tablecloth. You can buy these for a dollar each at Hobby Lobby. Don’t forget Hobby Lobby also has 40% off Coupons!!!

And one final way to dress up the table, Simple, yet classy looking, use some food coloring and dye a little rice red and blue, and put into a mason jar in layers, and stick a tea light candle in… Ta Da! Beautiful!!

Remember to have a fun, and be safe!

Friday Favorites #2

Today I’m going to share some of my favorite pintrest pins! If you click on any of the pictures they will lead you right to the project itself

Pintrest pin 1Pin#1:DIY Bellbottom / Flare Jeans … sooo maybe this is the teenage Heather part of me speaking.. but I’m pretty much totally in love with these. Think of all the freaking possibilities.. bandana’s, awesome fabric… lace…. and doesnt even need to be jeans, shorts, skirts… shirts? Possibilities are freaking endless!!

PS: I love that the author of this pin is standing on the side of the bathtub so she can see what the bottom of her pants look like in the vanity mirror… why? Because I have totally been there!!!

Pin #2: Kind of totally in love with these bright funky rocks! And they are a craft that you can do with your kiddo and then make them your own little bit of artwork! Have your son or daughter paint them the primary color and let them dry… once your little one goes to sleep hijack that rock and rock it out! (Haha see what I did there?)

These would look amazing in a plant, randomly in a garden or just chillin on your desk!

I have been wanting to do this project however have yet to run across the perfectly smooth rock on my walks… as soon as I do.. I will be tackling this project!

Pin #3  sooo… its not super jazzy or amazing but you can apparently (according to the pin) make this fire pit for $50.00

  • Weber Smokey Joe Portable charcoal grill or equivalent 14″ diameter grill. ($30 new)
  • 4 sections of 14″ inside diameter concrete tree ring ($2 to $3 each = $8 to $12 total)
  • 6 sections of 24″ inside diameter concrete tree ring ($2 to $3 each = $12 to $18 total)
  • 2 cubic feet of small stones, pebbles, road gravel or decorative rock ($0 to $20 depending on how fancy)

Total cost $50 to $80 depending on your taste in stones.

Seriously ANYONE can make this easy peasy!  I’m thinking as soon as I move I will be building this in my backyard.. and I love the rim on it, a place to rest my feet / melt my flip flops to the bottom of my feet!

Pin3Pin #4  These.. are.. amazing. These crocheted faux taxidermy are freaking AWESOME. Made by an artist named Hadar Kaplan who lives in Israel. She does several different types of “mounts” My favorites being the Rhino, Zebra and Moose!

These would look adorable in a playroom, or a childrens room.. I’m completely in love with these. They sell for about $125.00 each.

Pin #5  I don’t know why I bothered linking the photo to the picture because its pretty self explanatory however it looks freaking awesome!

Its like little bites of apple pie goodness. Looks to me like you just take some melted butter, brush it onto some croissants, sprinkle some brown sugar on that ma-ma-jama and roll an apple up in it. Cook it till it is done and not burnt and you are good to go!

I haven’t tried this one out yet but it may be tried out tonight!

Friday Favorites! #1

Sooo… as much as I love doing reviews I love weird, fun funky stuff even more… so that is why I decided to start a Friday Favorites section! This is going to be a pile of my favorite stuff that I have found on the internet over the week! 🙂 Hope you enjoy!

Marilyn Monroe Bringing Sexy Back…

Yes… this is Marilyn Monroe in a potato sack! These photos were taken in 1951. Although the reason behind these photos are not 100% known. It is said they was a response to a journalist who called Monroe’s clothing “cheap” and “vulgar” saying that she would be better suited to a potato sack. Sooo… she wiggled her size 8 hips into this potato sack and rocked it. Yes… she was size 8. She was 5 foot 5 inches tall, with a 35 inch bust, and 22 inch waist and had a 35 inch hips and her weight tended to be between 115 and 120lbs. My question…. I wonder exactly how itchy wearing a burlap bag is?

White House Knock Offs!

whitehouse3 Erbil, IraqLast year, Shihab Shihab, a Kurdish business tycoon began building his own White House, complete with the signature marble columns and white portico.

Atlanta, GAThe famous White House of Georgia originally included a replica of George W. Bush’s Oval Desk desk and details like a presidential seal, but it’s unclear if those interior features still exist now that the home has left its original owner.

San Francisco Victorian mansion

Boasting the best views in San Francisco, this seven story Victorian mansion built in 1896 by Adolph Sutro, survived the 1906 earthquake but was destroyed by fire 1907, eleven years after being built. Four different variations of the Cliff House have now stood on the cliffs overlooking Seal Rocks, and it has held restaurants, dance halls, gift shops and vista points.

The Metropolitan Transit Authority’s recycling program retire the remains of obsolete New York subway cars into the Atlantic ocean. Over the past decade, the program has dropped over 2,500 subway carriages into the ocean, helping to rebuild underwater reefs and homes for marine life along the eastern seabed, while also solving the problem of disposal.
